Dramatic Protests Return to Greece

As workers in Greece began a two day general strike, protests in Athens drew as many as 100,000 people. Both the strike and the demonstration were organised to protest austerity measures imposed on Greece in the wake of the sovereign debt crisis in the European Union. Parts of the protest have already turned violent and the Daily Beast is reporting that 14 police officers have already been hospitalized. The Greek Parliament is expected vote on additional austerity measures as EU leaders will meet on Sunday to discuss releasing further aide to Greece in addition to protecting themselves against a possible default.
