Just within the last few minutes Apple has announced that Steve Jobs died, less than two months after he resigned as CEO due to health problems. Jobs co-founded Apple in the 1970s with Steve Wozniak and made the company famous with innovative computers like the Apple II and Macintosh. In 1985 he was removed from Apple’s board and went on to found NeXT, which was later bought out by Apple in 1996. He also spearheaded the creation of Pixar, which has made hit movies such as Toy Story and Finding Nemo. After his return to Apple he lead the company through its most sucessful period yet with products like the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS X.
From Apple’s website:
“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
