2012 Update: Christie says no (again) while Cain surges

Chris Christie has once again announced that he will not run for President. Despite the numerous denials, Christie has found that “short of suicide, I don’t really know what I’d have to do to convince you people that I’m not running.” But in recent days there was speculation that Christie was set to declare his candidacy in order to capitalize on the wide open GOP race after former front-runner Rick Perry’s debate performances badly hurt his standing in the polls.

Herman Cain has risen to the top tier of the GOP field, leading or taking second in states like Florida, Nebraska, West Virginia, and North Carolina while consistently placing in the top three in national polls taken after his widely praised performance in the last debate. What sort of political genius could have possibly predicted such a dramatic turn of events?
