Burhanuddin Rabbani Assassinated

Former president of Afghanistan Burhanuddin Rabbani fell victim to an assassination on Tuesday, when a suicide bomber was lead into his house and killed him with explosives underneath his turban.

Many analysts say that this event, one of the most serious to date, has severely dented the Afghan peace process and prospects for Taliban reconciliation.

What does this say about Afghanistan, where even the most secure places are penetrable by attackers? Will a post-US Afghanistan look any better?

 Is peace possible?
